  2. Seeing the title of Andy's V12 Verado thread, I was reminded of something that happened at a motorway services when we were collecting a boat from Falmouth a couple of years ago. I was waiting in the foyer for my wife to return from a trip to the loo when she came back giggling. I asked her what was so funny. she told me that she was in one of the cubicles when she heard an older lady (gran?) talking a young girl (grand daughter?) in the adjacent cubicle. The little girl said to her Gran "ugh, your thing is all hairy". Gran replied "you will have one like that when you are older". After a slight pause the girl burst into tears crying out "I don't want one"!!! Not a joke, but a true story which I found very amusing. Geoff.

  5. I agree with most of the above, though the best two from my boat last year (6lb and 7lb) fell to king rag on pennell rigs. In 2019 I also witnessed a bigger one caught on lugworm and lost a monster on lugworm myself. I check stomach contents of the few gilts I catch, and they always include crab remains, so I plan to fish live hardback crabs up to 50p size on one rod this year. Although they make very good eating, may I please ask for restraint? I personally fish to a slot size of 2lb-3lb, returning all larger and smaller gilts. It's particularly important to return the larger ones to preserve the prime breeding stock. PH

  7. Gord, where we live fuel is the least of the worries. If you gotta worry about fuel costs, you can’t afford to own a boat. Unless it is trailered and on your drive. Boating (for my family) is a way of life not just a hobby. We tend to use the boat instead of going on long haul flights to far flung climates.

  9. It cleared customs 19th Jan bud...... Quite how UPS can deem it a Brexit related hold up when it's in the UK i'm not sure, and Brexit has nothing to do with bringing stuff in from the USA...... Ulterior motives spring to mind right there.... Show that to your MP and ask why Brexit is delaying goods from the USA

  13. Apoligies, meant to reply these last replies earlier but forgot...... 20' is pushing it an jumps the price of the mooring too. Its all yours @Andy135🤣 This is gonna sound naive, and i appreciate lockdown is making it harder but trying to find a bloody boat is much harder than I imagined!!😂 Almost came good on a 17ft centre consol not far from me this week but the engine is crap, (and over rated for the boat) no electronics, and having done some digging could end up being a nightnare for various reasons. Plus I don't like being taken for a ride!

  14. Primarily jig weight capability, and then it comes down to physical rod weight and length ............ Lighter is better as you are holding and working the rod all the time.

  19. Geoff, it's imported from the US, Brexit has nothing to do with it, the way we import from the US has not changed, so is in no way related to Brexit! Yes the EU are playing up as much as possible, they daren't let us succeed without them as that would be the end of the gravy train, the exact reason so many politicians were against implementing Brexit, as they were on the EU payroll. But we also have delivery companies playing the game, and unless it's reported to the likes of MP's, they will get away with it......

  21. Yep would agree with this so much so that previously I have usually gone for German make cars Audis and Mercs but recently changed my car and purposely bought a car made in the uk and can honestly say so far I am impressed. I now consciously look for British goods wherever I can.
