willyhookit
Hi thought id show you the Nylon & wire Wind-on rubbing leaders and hook traces i make i start by Splicing a loop into the Hollow core then i thread the nylon ?wire up the inside of the tail once its reached the loop i there Whip the end of the hollow core to make a nice smooth transition that runs through the rod guides or Rollers on the end of the rubbing leader i crimp a Ball bearing Swivel the hook traces is made 5ft long out of 7X7 strand S/ steel wire on one end i crimp a Coastlock clip using anti chaff springs or thimbles on the business end i use a 12/0 Circle hook i never use a flemish loop if you use the correct crimp for the size of wire used and using the right tool the crimp will never slip ive a selection of crimping pliers from the small hand held to a Bench Crimper the size of wire i use is from 1 mm for tope traces to 2mm for the toothy critters

GPSguru
I am happy to tell you all that the wind-on leaders that Alain produces are literally works of art. Not the cheapest in the world, but probably one of the absolute best, and you get what you pay for. JDP
Do you have a side door in your boat ? was wondering how you get the skate in without sticking it with a gaff. In regards to your rigs, why not do a picture of them out of the plastic bags. Edited November 19, 2021 by JDP

But I see you have shown a couple on a different thread. So the wondering has ceased. 👍🏻

No side door fitted the skate i catch are gaffed using 10mm Dia S / Steel hand Gaffs that i make the shark wind-on leaders are made out of 200lbs Dacron for the Spliced loop then i thread 25ft of 400lbs hard skin nylon into the Dacron and serve the end i then crimp a 550 Ball bearing Swivel using a nylon thimble and crimp protector the lead weight can side off the leader should it snap or the main line snap so as NOT to tether the fish up should the lead get stuck in rocks or a wreck the wire hook trace is made out of 16.mm s/steel wire 450 lbs Coastlock clip is crimped on using a S/Steel thimble on the Business end i use a range of hook sizes depending of the target species ONLY Eagle claw hooks are used i use heat shrink tubing over the crimps to protect your hands when baiting up or Unclipping the trace there was a full page review in sea Angler Mag By Dave Lewis on the range of wind-on rubbing leaders & hook traces i make Tight lines Alain C / O Alain Storey Specialist Tackle

If so cropping is easy enough. There is a tutorial type post somewhere I think. We are limited on the site to the software package we use, as only 3 of us fund it this is a good package and we don’t have shit loads of adverts unlike some other sites. Obviously every add on costs more money. That said I , think @Andy135does sometimes activate your phone camera remotely so just keep that in mind.🤣
