Looking at that gob, that looks a lot like a Dogtooth Tuna. One of the planets best and dirtiest fighters, once hooked they go straight down and you just cant stop the run. We only ever got to boat about 25% of the ones we hooked.

Nice fishing and cracking pics.

Yes that's true and some the size of a small car were following up hooked fish but just couldn't get them to take a lure. Wasnt going to resort to bait fishing.

Serious question Pete, Neil has booked us in for two days fishing and I want a rod that will last at least that long. Maybe longer.

Yes, they look flimsy in order that you can work the jig effectively, however, most of the better rods will also deadlift about 22lb.

Here .......

and what would it coast to get one

About £270 or so.

but if you are only trying SPJ out for a couple of days, then a spinning rod will be ok, or even a standard 12 - 20 can still fish a jig.

Yes, Leo caught that wrasse on a spinning rod and 5000 FS reel, with the handle on the left!!

Thats fine, most normal people use a FS with a left handle, it is only those with strange brain deficiencies that use a multi with a left handle 🤪

spinning rods are ok for SPJ, but they are too long and awkward for using over an extended period, but short sessions are well ok. 👍
