Tim somehow hooked a scallop while fishing and i wasnt going to let the opportunity pass - i took it home, chucked, cleaned, fried in garlic and chilli and served with crispy bacon bits as a starter.

Nice!

I hooked one off Plymouth by a wreck, apparently you can disturb them with your lead and they squirt away from it by quickly opening and closing their shell. I was using a 10' flying collar rig, not sure if that's a standard rig for them though 😂

That was how mine was, unfortunately there was no ice box back then and it was roasting hot or I would have taken it home

this was on a ledger rig - and the hook was in the shell so maybe it was open as it dragged over then clamped shut on it!

I have an arrangement with the local dive boats, they keep me fed in scallops, and I will always move on if they want to dive, also we often have an exchange of fresh Pollock / Mack for scallops on the slipway !
