Lovely place, long way, rains a lot, nice views, a few barn doors…

@Josh has given the appetite to get  the chum out, gloves on and find a things with teeth.

Best of the bunch at 186, only managed one day of fishing due to weather.

Mako, Thresher, Conger, 6 Gill, Halibut to go before angling retirement!

I’ve had loads of conger but would love one over a ton… only that’s nigh on impossible these days… maybe a mid channel wreck out of Plymouth or something but going to take a lot of doing. 
 

Shetland islands may hold a large halibut but it’s a lot of work and you’d need a bunch of guys to give up a week to try for them solidly which won’t happen. As for the sharks…. We’ll who knows what lurks out in the Celtic Deeps. That’s my best chance of a Mako and possibly a thresher on my own boat is doable

True, very true

The British record conger, caught by Skipper Vic Evans, came from a wreck that is less than 10 miles from Brixham, and TBF it still does throw up some quite big eels from time to time.

I have fished for Conger on and off since a very young age, I used to go out with my dad on 'Our Unity' with Ernie Passmore and John Trust, I would have been about 14 then.

My best fish came in 2010 (on my own boat), whilst fishing the rough ground off Exmouth, a fish of 92lb, close but still not the ton !

I have caught loads in the upper 60 - 70lb range, but the real big fish are quite hard to find.

However, they are still nasty bas'tids and don't fight fair by swimming backwards.

Well done Luke, fished for them a few times off of Baltimore ROI, had more luck with the blues, my only ton up fish to date
