JDP
Stunning scenery. That's some achievement anchoring in 500m, must of had something like 2km or anchor rope. We hold the boat over deep marks by either spot locking or backing into the current, in and out of gear all day. Is 500m a common depth to target them ? So we was dropping in 500 experimentally for anything, there’s greenland sharks that get caught up there in nets we had some info via commercial the BIG halibut do venture deep. But someone’s gotta be bold enough to try basically . we had to back down on our drifts when inshore fishing for halibut becuase the wind was so strong. with 5lbs of lead we didn’t want to hold the rods constant (fortunately there isn’t big tidal range there) same method we used for the sixgills JDP

Dicky
Nice one mate, guys from our club go every year. They have had cod over 70lb and halibut over a hundred. For some reason it doesn't really appeal to me which is weird as the fishing over there is great, although from what they say it is on the decline a little. The style of fishing for the cod is not a great appeal agree id like the big Coaly they really do go and of course for the picture a big cod. but it’s literally we did it but smaller shoals of fish just drop if u can get to the bottom you’ll get a cod almost instantly if not you will get picked up by a Coaly mid water where as the halibut fishing requires a lot more thought and finesse saying that I think in the skrei season the cod actually sit above the Coalys! We fished the Coaly n cod while the orcas were feeding forget to mention that and sea eagles 🦅 Dicky and daio web
