Nice one, I've not caught a smoothie yet, hopefully next year

Of the species that we commonly get in the Thames are the hounds are my favourite as they put up such a determined fight all the way to the boat, then they go again once they see the boat. They are in very good numbers around the Thames estuary, maybe because although they are great eating they are a pain to skin and most people return them because they are considered a sport fish.

Nice going Jon. Were you fishing with braid ?

I was using mono on my uptide rods.
Micky who was using my 12/20s because he forgot his rods was using braid. He doesn’t usually use braid and didn’t fully understand just how well braid can tangle up in the wrong hands. Notably his hands.

i love a decent smoothie on a light set up - they go bonkers - one of my favourites - you got to watch the rod they hit so hard they can pull it over the side!

- but Jon you forgot - they also go nuts IN the boat!!

haha!
