mike farrants Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 Weather forecast was a bit hit and miss - but if you don't go you don't know - so we hatched a plan. forecast was calm in the morning - and blowing up to 15-20mph from the SW meant we might have to stay inshore - so that was the plan - target the Squid and small stuff in Portland harbour, venture further out if it looks ok. We started inside Portland harbour drifting for squid, mackerel and with 2 hook flappers for any gurnards, whiting, scad etc couple of hours and nothing except one small bream for me and one squid for Tim. so we headed out to an inshore mark that did well last weekend - this spot has been know to throw up some nice rays, bream, gurnard whiting and more wasnt to be so good this time round - we only had Bream (plentiful), dogs and conger - no rays. we were held by the tide side onto the wind - which made it rather uncomfortable - so at 2.30pm we pulled the pick. one gust of wind blew something off the roof and into my lap - it was a dried up pipefish - assumed a seagull decided it didn't like pipefish. Random. no other fish worthy of a pic so here's some scenery..... not sure when we will next get out - Tim is off to the canary islands and taking his beach gear so i'll share any catches if theyre any good!
