Christmas and New Year fishing

Do you get out or try to get fishing over the Christmas break?

Boxing day was always a time for walk up shoots, ferreting, wildfowling and other outdoor activities possibly because people were stuck indoors with the festivities, rugrats and family so are you going out or do you have a club meet or friends meet?

I am stuck in. And reliably Boxing Day weather is looking pretty good! I may buy some bait tomorrow just incase I can twist the wife's arm to allow me out. May have to get @Andy135 in trouble too if I can!

just looked at the tides for 25 and 26 look like you will be fishing a low tide ??

Yeah pretty small tide.

Hope to be out dangling and giving the liver a few hours off.

Of course, same as any other time of the year, except it's much hotter at Xmas. Marlin are here in good numbers as well as other seasonal pelagic fish. Saw decent sized great white yesterday on my way out for a swim for some eastern rock lobsters which I give to friends at Xmas.

i was thinking of beach fishing,

by the time you have escaped the famerly and gone out on the boat, you whont have much time to fish. becouce of getting back

Yes, I have to go 20nm west to the skerries for them, worthwhile effort though 👍

Almost, a decent fish bait (or squid / cuttle) fished hard on the bottom at anchor, using 100lb / 150lb mono trace to stop any bite off. 👍

Tangent, the only time I fished for them was from my kayak in Loch Etive next to the salmon farm cages in 200ft of water they were little things from 1/2 to 2lb, 2hr drive to get there and I've never been back!

In fairness they get some cracking fish from the shore into the teens.

had  double  figure   spur    from Etive     make bloody  good skate bait   fishing in the sound of jura    ( Crinan )

Towed the boat to the ramp only to have a weather change so headed for a quick flick up the beach instead with the family. 
Hopefully get the boat out tomorrow (Xmas day).

Pulled a bucket of prawns from the lake next to our house last night. Managed another 3 each lobsters and around 5kgs of muscles from this mornings boat trip. Fun dive with warm clear water and numerous shark species.
