complete surprise on this trip - had my first ever red gurnard on saturday - only a small one, but it was followed quickly by my 2nd and biggest at 1lb

both on squid strip

stunning fish (although a bit grunty)

That second pic is stunning! Great photography!

They are lovely fish - very characterful. A red gurnard was the first ever fish I boated on Apache on our maiden voyage. As it happens, mine fell to mackerel feathers. Yours looks a much better specimen though. Good work. 👍

You may well be right Jon. However I’ve personally never tasted gurnard so can not confirm either way!
