Popular Post thejollysinker Posted November 26, 2021 Popular Post Posted November 26, 2021 Sunday just gone we were supposed to be taking my nephew Freddie and his mum out on the boat but yet again the weather Gods were not on our side. So, we (I) opted for a trip to Slapton for a Mackerel trip with a horrible NW blowing along and slightly into the beach. I have succeeded before here in rough conditions although heavy tackle was required from the off as suspected, so after putting up a couple of shelters I tackled up two beefy rods with 6oz leads and the 'newly improved' pop up rigs baited with mackerel belly (always keep these for bait). From the off we were getting bites, difficult to see with the wind and swell but they were biting. In just over two hours we had 21 Macks, some of which were a good size, around the 1lb mark. It was a hectic session with me running around like a lunatic doing all the hard work while Freddie and mum reeled the fish in, great fun. My sis' took some home that I'd prepared and we had some to eat next day which tasted divine. This weekend's boat trip has been cancelled yet again.... weather don't you know 😞 Andy135, Saintly Fish, JonC and 2 others 5 Quote
Andy135 Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 Top dangling! And extra kudos for fishing Slapton successfully - a hard mark to make work. Looks like everyone had fun and plenty of fish on the shingle. Well done 👍 thejollysinker 1 Quote

Saintly Fish Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 Well done, thanks for sharing. The sun was out for you by the look of it at least. thejollysinker 1 Quote
thejollysinker Posted November 27, 2021 Author Posted November 27, 2021 (edited) the wind was punching quite hard from the left (northerly) and it was quite lumpy but they were going mental... it was literally a fish or two a chuck with a few missed bites. Thankfully the sun was out which made it all the more pleasant. Edited November 27, 2021 by thejollysinker Quote
