Popular Post jonnyswamp Posted June 23, 2021 Popular Post Posted June 23, 2021 Slow builders gave me an opportunity to wet a line today, so called up the regular crew and made a plan Through the 7am lock just after high water, where the levels were pretty much equal, so only in the lock the length of time it took to close one set of gates and open the others Hitched a ride down to Castle rock on the first of the ebb and dropped the pick bang on 7.30 A slow start and it didn't look like the other 2 boats were faring much better I had something pick tidy me up and snap me off, mainline snagged around rock/reef and cut through it Then just after Nippers rod came to life and the first hound came on board Shuff was next in with a nice Blonde Another couple of hounds and a smaller Ray came in the next hour or so, then the tide slackened off enough to move out to deeper water The fish followed us out the extra mile and we picked up more hounds and another Blonde A few dogs and straps made an appearance just before slack and as the side turned and the flood got stronger we started to slip anchor The wind had picked up as well, so we made our way back up around Penarth and had the last hour on the Coral picking up a couple of smaller hounds, dogs and a small Thornie A leisurely 10min plod saw us into the 3.15 lock and tied up before 4 Best hound went 14ish, Blonde 14ish and a far better return journey that the previous outing Back out of Brixham Saturday on a charter, either wrecking or Skerries, depending on weather and which is fishing better suzook12, Bass&Chips, GPSguru and 4 others 7 Quote

They're prolific up here, regularly top 20lb if you want to target them on the banks Not a lot of fun dragging one against a 4/5 knt tide though 😭 Quote

Maverick Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Nice report, well done on getting out and getting a few fish. @Saintly Fish surprised you haven't caught a blonde ray, most banks south of the island should hold some Quote

I only really go 2-3 times a year in search of cod or tope. Maverick 1 Quote
