Popular Post GPSguru Posted July 16, 2021 Popular Post Posted July 16, 2021 (edited) OK..... It has been a month since I have been out so in the end we decided to tread carefully, however, I was fine, so really pleased. After refuelling with E10 🙄 at Tescos, we launched at 07:00 to a minimal short chop, that I knew would flatten as the day progressed when the wind swings around to the North West I had decided that we would try an inshore wreck that was about 5Nm out and in 100ft of water, only a small wreck, but it does produce the goods . We got there quite quickly on the flooding tide and the drifts were quite fast at 1.5knt, OK, but you need to keep resetting the drift to stay in the fishzone. The wife decided to go with a string of Tinsels on size 6 hooks, mainly because she likes the variety that they catch, and I stuck with Red Gills and Slow Jigs. We were soon catching Pollock in the 3lb range, and they were falling to not only the lures but the Tinsels as well ! As we had to be back in for 12:00 ish in order to get ready for the afternoon school run, I decided to sit it out on the wreck for the duration of the tide, however, once we got to slack water, the Pollock bites dried up and were replaced by hoards of Pout of all sizes. Also, the wife managed to pick up another couple of Red Band fish ! By mid to late morning the sea had flattened, and it was extremely warm out there, with me plastering on the factor 50. So, we finished up with 11 Pollock, 2 Red Band Fish, and I lost count of the Pout. We only kept the Pollock that had 'blown, so 5 came home with us, and I have had one for evening meal tonight. Unfortunately, the Bass had gone on holiday. We landed back on the slip at 12:45, TBH an excellent morning to be out there, I sent @Andy135 a couple of whatsapp pictures just pee him off whilst he was on his conference calls 🤣 On the way in we detoured to take a look at the Regal Princess which has recently anchored in the bay. The total for the day including resetting the drifts was 17.5Nm Only a couple of pictures, The stamp of Pollock was 3lb ish, good table size. Flat calm mirror sea at 5 miles out. We're moving (hopefully) in the next couple of weeks so our weekends are busy packing boxes and herding up my pack of dogfish from the lake at 135 Towers. Ok, that last bit may not be true... the butler herds them, not me. suzook12 1 Quote
