Marking anchor rope

Recommended Posts

Blimey, I’m confused to hell 🤣

My old man made me do computer studies at school in the early eighties and I was bloody hopeless at it….and binary 🤷‍♂️

looks pretty though 😜

if I did mark my rope I’d probably just count every mark as it went out tbh 👍

On my old boat I used red black snd green paint every 10ft, different colour each time so was easy to tel how much rode was out.

donr borher now, don’t tend to anchor much these days

Does anyone mark their anchor rope?

I normally let out 10 metres of rope for every 10 feet of water.  I mark my rope in binary using insulation tape every 10 metres with yellow=1 and black=0

Redone today, it lasts about 5 seasons.  Interested in other ideas

Yes, my system is identical and the 10ft/10m rule is perfect for 3:1.

I have my 200m of rode marked with red heatshrink, each marked from 1 to 20 in black permanent marker.

I have 80m and let the whole lot out - im usually in no more than 70ft water, if i need more i have another 70m on the other end (150m total, tied off in the middle ish)

You are using two different units of measurement, no wonder all the stuff that Screwfix sell is fucked
