I've never seen one!

You need to fish baited wrecking feathers on a deepish wreck. They rarely fall to standard lures like red gill or sidewinders.

A full fillet of mack on a 6/0 or 8/0 with 100lb biting trace, is the way to go, you first feel the pout pecking at it, then the rod will take on a decent bend when a Ling grabs the bait.

Yeah but I don't have any deep wrecks local to me, hence I don't do wreck fishing!

There are a couple of very deep wrecks in St Cats. The Isleworth is the obvious one at 64m.

Or the Asborg, south of the Light. Long way to go though and the tide rips through there making it a tough place to fish.

My emphasis was on local, you can hardly call St. Cats that.

If you want to catch fish you have to go to where they are though, not where's convenient.

Having said that I found St Cats to be hard fishing whenever I made the trek round the back of the Island.

Agreed. Horrible, combat style of fishing. Surely decent technique and ability but far outstripped mine.

Lovely little session Neil,  always had a soft spot for Bream on light gear.
