JonC Posted December 11, 2022 Share Posted December 11, 2022 A short session again, not a lot of planning as usual. It was perfect conditions to be out, with high water about 1.30pm. I didn’t get to the boat until gone 11am due to being poorly from the previous night. I drove the boat about a mile East from the marina and parked on a bit of a bank in about 20’ of water. Whiting from the off, some decent sized ones too by local standards. I only had one Thornback, (raja clavata for @Saintly Fish) a decent Dab that unfortunately dropped off at the side of the boat which I’m claiming as I touched the leader. I recon it was just sucking on a squid tentacle. The highlight of the day was a small codling, which is the first one I’ve caught in the river for years. The only bait I had was squid, which meant I had a cheap day’s fishing with a £2.50 box of squid.
