Dicky
Yep, Fin whales. Seen them out of West Wales but not that close. must of been a squeaky bum moment. Josh
JDP
We used to encounter right whales while fishing south of the IOW, however they didn't approach us as close as these did to you. Here though we see plenty of whales daily, even my last trip out for a dive a pair came over to check my boat out. I like to keep my engine running when they are close so they can be more aware exactly where I am. Last year some friends had a whale fully breach, landing on their boat, which left the young lad (my sons school buddy) in a coma and various other injuries. The whale in the bottom image looks to be feeding, where there any mackerel or large bait-balls of whitebait or pilchards etc about ? These pics are from the weekend, though I didn't bother to much trying to get photos on this occasion. Wow some incredible shots there was stunning to see it all going on. that’s exactly what the tunas whales and dolphins were feeding on the white bait. It caused quite a bit of damage (now fixed). I like to keep a healthy distance now, 40NM is a long way from home to get hit by a whale 😮😮😮😮 Edited August 18, 2023 by Odyssey Josh
