Odyssey Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 Recommendations please for a good bait knife. My cheapo mustard one is broke, the other fell overboard on last trip... Any good ones for a good price? 🤔😊 Quote
Saintly Fish Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 No such thing as a decent bait knife. do what @Andy135 does, just buy a cheap kitchen devil knife and replace when needed. I found it surprisingly sharp. Quote
Andy135 Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 As Neil says, I've moved over to treating bait knives as disposable items. I found a Kitchen Devil knife in my local Sainsbury's for £3.50. Painfully sharp and cheap enough to not worry if it goes overboard. Maverick and JonC 1 1 Quote
Odyssey Posted December 11, 2020 Author Posted December 11, 2020 Hmmm sounds like plan hopefully I won’t look dodgy with a handful of knives and avoid being arrested 🤣 Saintly Fish 1 Quote

JDP Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 I use boning knives for bait and filleting, unlike fillet knives these are often far cheaper and hold the edge much longer, hence why they are the most common butchers knife. JonC 1 Quote
LostPiker Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 I've got a couple of knives and sharpening stones from here https://uk.knivesandtools.eu/ Knives for every use and budget Saintly Fish 1 Quote
SiDfish Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 Haven't checked lately but there used to be commercial fishing knives, resharpened, for about £6. I've got several, many years old, and still going strong. Still use a proper Victorinox for filleting mind. Quote
