Hi from County Kerry

Hi lads

Fish?  Farmed them researched them, injected them, put transmitters in them, surveyed stocks, re-built habitats, skippered a patrol boat, enforced legislation.  Enforced retirement due to health (I AM mad), now reside in County Kerry (15yrs).  Fish in river, lough, sea shore and boats whenever I feel like it.  Only downside is that my house is a virtual ruin, so me and the dog have to make do with a mobile home.  Just now the wind is shaking the van and the rain is pounding on the roof.  What with the place and people, I wouldn't rather be anywhere!

Welcome to the madhouse. You'll fit right in 😉

Good to have you with us. Sounds like you must have a wealth of relevant knowledge that our members would be interested to hear more about.

I hear that Kerry is a lovely part of the world. Never been myself but friends who have been have only good things to say about it. More than slightly envious of your location 👍.

Welcome!

I have only been to Co Kerry once as a kid. 2 weeks on Dingle peninsula. Awesome place, absolutely stunning! On the bucket list to return with a fishing rod 🙂

Look forward to hearing more from you 🙂

  • 4 weeks later...

Like the sound of that. I used to live in an old Lough Swilly bus whwn I was a teenager and worked as a draft fisherman. I remember it was written above my space in the bed that it was last resprayed in 1941 lol. Their were 12 of us all uncles, cousins and brothers. The craic and atmosphere were great. Legal of course. it seems babaric now to kill hundreds of salmon per week but that was the way then. People needed to eat and times were tough. Learnt  a lot thoughn about fishing, hard work and psychology. Great tomes. Don't fancy living in caravan at this time of year. Strangely I have never ventured down your way afrom Donegal although I have always meant to.
