Andy135
For me it's got to be the humble dogfish. It's usually the only fish I feel relieved to catch, usually because I'm blanking and they're a welcome blank-buster! Which fish floats your boat and why? Saintly Fish
I’m not going to come in on this swinging my dick. I’ll leave that to @headlight and his giant mackerel. Im happy to catch anything that puts more of a bend in my rod than a pout or whiting. I love to catch a nice bass, always a pleasant visitor. Luckily conger are always around to save the day from a boring blank . Undulate rays are my favourite fish to look at though. The colour schemes amaze me. SiDfish
I'd go for decent pollock anytime. They just fight so bloody hard, and taste great to boot British Big Game Fishing, ever optimistic and GPSguru 1
jonnyswamp
I'm happy catching pretty much anything Though the hit of a Bass or Pollock is a good buzz, black Bream on light gear as well Not a big fan of trying to drag a 20lb Blonde from 80yds out against a 5 knot tide The humble dog or conger often saves a blank ever optimistic

Odyssey
Sharks, coz it’s a waiting game. When that ratchet goes is it a monster or a tiddker, gets that adrelelin going. After that, Mr Cod, you get that slack liner on your uotider, wind like hell and get that lovely nodding feeling on the end. Goes well with chips too 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Geoff

Maverick
I love catching turbot and brill, not because they fight as they don't much but they are so beautiful oh and they taste good. For sport I like pollock as their crash dives are impressive, bass are also good fun on light gear
JDP
Snapper would have to be high on my list, the fact you can target them on so many styles of tackle, most of which is light makes for great sport. We have some serious amounts of game fish on offer but give me snapper or yellowtail kingfish any day. In saying that just about any fish is fun given the right tackle to target them. headlight
No surprises, obviously, from me. Blues over 100lbs, Porgies over 200lbs and big mackerel. Special mention for Tope over 60lbs on the right gear as they can give a good account of themselves. Still waiting for a Thresher and Mako. Maybe next year ? suzook12
You can only catch what's in front of you, so mine has to be tope without lots of travelling, in which case blue shark (to date), although rays on light gear can be great fun SiDfish

SiDfish
Second to Pollack would have to be shore tope for me. Much like any shark you have no idea of the size when that ratchet goes. Been specifically targetting them for over 40yrs now! Andy135
Plaicehunter
These are pretty special! Hard to catch, hard-fighting and apparently delicious (I don't eat fish) PH Dicky and Andy135

GPSguru
Yes they are Gilts from the Tamar .................. the big identifier give away is the big black spot just behind the gill covers. We get Gilts in all our estuaries here, some bigger than others ........ in the Teign we max out at about 2lb, but other estuaries like the Yealm and the Erme fish of 5lb or more are not uncommon with the record standing at 12lb which came from (IIRC) the Salcombe estuary (Salcombe is not a true estuary it is a Ria). A terrifically hard fighting fish, where small strong hooks are a must, I generally use Sakuma Chinu Pattern hooks .............. bait is the key for these, small Gilts can be caught on worm (Rag), but the bigger specimens will always go for Peeler and Razor baits ..............
